We are having a quiet few days lazing around the pool, having the odd cocktail & enjoying a massage!
Yesterday the weather was grey & wet so we just stayed around here. Today we went back to see the Orangutans. A mother & baby were only a few metres from us so that was exciting! When feeding time came around only two Orangutans showed up - not even the Macaque monkeys from the other day turned up! It takes 8000 Malaysian Ringgits to care for one orphaned Orangutan for a year so our donation (180R) won't go far but it is an amount that many people could give.
We went into Sandakan town itself because we'd heard that there was a Sunday market - it was rubbish! We were glad to get back to the hotel as it was so hot & the pool was a welcome distraction. tonight we are venturing back into the town to try a restaurant that was recommended to us. We visited a local restaurant for seafood & it was awesome & cheap.
We fly back to Kota Kinabalu for our last couple of days before returning home.
Hi Lesley
ReplyDeleteAnne gave me your Blog address today and after a little trouble Ruth sorted me out I got onto your blog. It sounds like you an Valda are having a marvellous time. As I was reading you blog I was envisioning you both like the early English explorers. You know the old "African" movies - was it Audrey Hepburn and Charlton heston in the African Queen. By now you will be back in Kota Kinabalu recouping for your trip home. I am looking forward to seeing your pics and hearing your stories - I don't suppose Valda got a picture of you high jumping the snake (twig)? Take care and will catch up with you when you return. Perhaps we could have coffee with Anne etc before school returns. Love Robyn
