Valda finally reached Costa Rica after beating the floods in St Louis. We had a quick wander around San Jose but all the museums were closed for a special event - no idea what the special event was.

In the evening we met the rest of the group there are 16 of us. Amazingly a couple who had been on the India tour with us in 2006 had won a trip and there they were - no of us could believe the coincidence!

After a  4 hour drive we arrived at Fortuna. We are surrounded by mountains and a volcano which last erupted in 2010! Hope it stays dormant! The hotel has lush tropical gardens, a pool and 4 hot spas - so relaxing!

Valda and I decided on a massage with chocolate facial - I resisted the temptation to lick the corners of my mouth! The massage area was facing the jungle type area and the music was the sounds of nature! It has to be the best massage ever!

We have just come back from a nature trip on the river. On our way we stopped to see Iguanas basking in tree tops. We saw two sloths - being very sloth like - a couple of caymen, numerous white faced monkeys, many different birds and some lizards.

The weather is tropical - very warm and humid with lots of heavy showers.
