The weather is crazy!!

With the weather so perfect, 20C, the weekend was spent in the garden! I had to borrow shorts from my sister! No difference in our size as most of you know!!

I was set to work - we were putting up netting around frames to keep the birds off the growing veg. It's lovely to think that people feel that I am taller than I am but I was really stretched, in every sense of the word, when it came to getting the netting over the top. When this was completed I was set to work raking and planting peas - not that I will see the fruits of my labour!!!

It was so warm that we decided to have a barbecue, complete with Pimms, and pretend that it was summer! I did need to wear a jumper! That night the clocks went forward and the longer daylight started!

On Monday we took a train to the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham - just to have a look around. Unfortunately the museum was not open. We completed a lot of steps that day and wandered around and through Birmingham centre! Tiring!

The Commonwealth Games are being held here this summer.

Tuesday was the day I met up with a couple of Allan's sisters and husbands - it was a lovely catch up!

The week had been seriously curtailed by the need to find a way to get the ducks off the pool!! My room overlooked the garden and pool and in the early morning I could hear the little brighters quaking. On with the dressing gown and off down the garden I went to scare them away - yes I know just one look at the old lady with wild hair was a enough to make them take flight! More and oi rd was needed so an online search revealed a few things - scary year balloons, an owl with moving head,  netting etc etc.

Initially we thought water pistols. Amazon soon had them on the way.

We had great fun! Not sure what the neighbours thought when Jake when Jake would shout  " Les quick get the gun!"  We got to creeping up on the ducks whilst pumping the pistol and shooting - they soon took flight but that didn't deter them! 

Next we bought balloons whilst waiting for Amazon to deliver an owl with moving head. Eyes were put on the balloon and tied to various things in the pool.

 Well that didn't work!

Neither did this!
