Have cast will travel!

A few days before ' casting' myself away from Oz my hand was x-ray to check on progress. Doctor said that it had started to heal and that I should contact my sister to see if the cast could be taken off in UK! This led to a whole series of events!

Jake, sister, contacted the local fracture clinic - no they couldn't do it. "Even if she has the x-rays how do we know it's her hand?" We'll you can imagine a few expletives went down the wire! Jake followed through trying different avenues but you'd really think that I was landing from Mars and wasn't a British subject! Being a good sister her ' taking off a cast slouthing' paid off and I have an appointment a few days after arriving in UK. I think I owe her big time.

 Travelling light!

Arrival at Sydney airport was easy until I reached the check-in desk! I was getting checked in and then my cast was spotted! I might say that I had informed British Airways of this fact! Off the lady went, she was conferring with someone, back started came and asked if I'd been given permission by a doctor to travel - yes! Off she went again and back she came, this time the question was how long had the cast been on  - 4 weeks! Off she popped! Ever get the feeling that the people in the queue behind were getting antsy!! Back she came and my boarding pass was handed over - don't know who was more relieved me or the check-in lady!

Next hurdle to overcome was security screening! I had been reading in the Sydney Morning  Herald that people had some very bad experiences with them. I was organised. All things that needed to be out of your bag - laptop, 100mm items etc- I had them all in a shopping bag which I tipped straight into the bin. The security lady couldn't have been nice - "I'll help you with that just leave it to me".😊

I was then ushered to the x-ray machine where you stand with your arms in the air! Ping areas were lighting up  - go back and take your shoes off were the instructions. My helpful security lady was right there and put my shoes through.  Back I went, arms in the air, ping another 2 areas were lighting up, one being the cast! The other area was obviously to do with my bra. I was asked my permission for that area to be checked  - no it wasn't by a man! I agreed - it wasn't intrusive. Great I thought now I can get going but no! My cast then had to be checked for explosives! By then I was in serious need to sit down!

I'm happy to say that the rest of my journey to Singapore went fine  - plane was full! As you might imagine landing in Singapore and going through immigration etc was a breeze- I reckon I was in the taxi line know more than 30 minutes after landing - would have been quicker if people were not determined to hold everyone up by blocking the aisle!
