My last day in Copenhagen was freezing - I think the wind was coming down from the Arctic!
Back on to the hop on/off bus, just to get out of the cold, I took the route around to Rosenborg Castle. This castle was originally built as a country summerhouse.
The interior was interesting although the dark timber is not my favourite!
Outside I saw the guards being 'dilled' before they walked around the streets to the palace - this was changing of the guard!
Late afternoon saw me enter the Tivoli Gardens - the second or third oldest amusement park in the world - its been open since 1834! My sister mentioned that we had been there when we were younger although I can't remember it. It is a amusement park as you would remember going to as a little kid.
Bumper cars, candy floss, roller coasters etc were also part of the fun! All the kids seem to be having a great time. There were lots of different eateries too!
Saturday saw me at the railway station ready for my train initially to Hamburg. I was asking about my train as it didn't seem to be coming up on the board. A man overheard me and said "Hang on a minute I've had an email from the company. wait there I will go and get it!" He returned and sure enough the time had been put back! Off I went to the platform and that was when the fun started! My seat was in carriage 12 but guess what there were only 7 carriages! Regardless I got onto carriage 7 - these trains leave on time so there was no running around the platform trying to find the conductor! My thought was that eventually the conductor would get to the end of the train. While I was waiting for her to arrive a young man offered me his seat - I politely declined saying that I knew I had a seat somewhere. The conductor arrived and showed me my seat in first class - I did remember booking a first class seat on one of my trips but couldn't remember which one!
The first class carriage became a place where people were moved out of seats and sent back down the train - it was like musical chairs! The trip was uneventful although long - 5 hours to Hamburg and the another 2 hours to Berlin - it means that you need a good book!
Luckily my hotel was 4 minutes walk from the station - I found it straight away!
Today was onto the Berlin hop on bus. Berlin is a much bigger city than I have been used to! I walked along the Art works on the Berlin Wall.
